IV NAD+

Picture
You might have heard about IV NAD+ Infusion Therapy on Joe Rogan's podcast, on VICE, in TED Talks, and on anti-aging and peak-performance forums. As NAD+ has grown in popularity, supplements, creams, and oral precursors have flooded the market. Just like IV Ketamine, the gold standard for raising NAD+ levels is to infuse actual NAD+ directly. This fall we added IV NAD+ Infusion Therapy to our services. This therapy works very well with our existing services, but also stands on its own.
  1. We can use this therapy to assist people going through detox programs for alcohol, opioid, and benzodiazepine addictions before ketamine therapy. This makes ketamine therapy an option for those who were not previously candidates.
  2. It can also be used on its own for general wellness, to reduce the symptoms of chronic illness and depression, and for its anti-aging properties.
Check out our NAD+ page for details.

Don't think of ketamine as an antidepressant.

In psychiatric medicine there are many antidepressant drugs targeting the neurotransmitter model of depression. 30% to 50% of people do not respond to these drugs, which begs the question, "Why is the neurotransmitter model of treatment the most widely accepted?"

This way of thinking has carried over into the treatment models using ketamine, which targets the glutamate system, not the serotonin system. While ketamine is tremendously more effective in that model, it still doesn't represent the weight of ketamine's true relevance. Instead, ketamine can be psychologically transformative. Transformation can be directly linked to the experience, not an overly simplistic and incomplete model of chemical imbalance.

Knowing this is beneficial for patients so that they may lean more heavily on the experience of the treatment, and not simply an antiquated model of pill-popping. This would mean that in a perfect world you would not need further treatment after the initial treatment. Results vary widely, and we see lasting effects from 1-6 months before needing a booster. Our patient's results are more directly related to the quality of the experience, not on a theoretical model of imbalance.

Knowing this, it is in your best interest to properly prepare for your series of infusions. Take the following into consideration in the days leading up to your treatment.
  1. Don't plan any major events during the initial two weeks of treatment.
  2. Make sure that you are getting plenty of sleep, and putting high quality nutritious foods in your body.
  3. Drink plenty of water.
  4. Take time to consider your life up to the point, and imagine the life that you desire to have after infusions.
  5. Ask the people in your life to give you the space you need. Or bring loved ones back into your life that have drifted away.
  6. Set deliberate intentions, but be ready to let go of them too.
Once you are scheduled for the IV Ketamine Infusion Series, we will send you a very detailed document about what you should expect, and how to prepare.
Be well,
Adam and Shanna Angel.

Our job is incredibly interesting as providers of IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy (IVKIT). Patients make new discoveries during treatment, and as your assistant, we do to. Firstly, each of our patients have taken incredible initiative to seek this experience. The power of deciding to take this first step is itself part of the healing process. Once you are in our clinic, we are there with you not as therapists, guides, or shamans. We are not here to make decisions for you. Our job is simply to provide the opportunity for you to pay attention to the deepest parts of yourself and to do with it what you will. Your experience can create new tools to live by and to own your life experience.

The decision to begin IVKIT is a big one. You will be committing two weeks of your life to the process. There might be ups and downs, and while you may feel benefits immediately, there is also opportunity to unpack the experience for months or years to come. Each individual experience is as unique as the individual, and it is in many ways an exploration. With exploration comes uncertainty. In this case uncertainty is a good thing because it creates new potentials that didn't exist before the treatment. Those that decide to begin treatment are courageous individuals ready to expand their perception and therefore their life.
